Why Russell Reed Left McDonalds

The First Time

During the summer of 2002, Russell changed positions from head cook at McDonalds to Maintenance Supervisor. Manager Ray had expressed interest in running an overnight shift. Russell volunteered, as a result, he was made the overnight maintenance worker, being promised more money. By law, he was supposed to have been paid a shift differential between the hours of 12 AM till 6 AM. He never saw the money. After Russell noticed the money was not in his paycheck, mysteriously, Manager Ray took a week off, then came back complaining about how Russell did not work up to his expectations during that week. If Ray was on vacation, how did he know what Russell did, or did not do. Russell realized that during that week, he was being watched all night long on the McInternet. He felt this was an invasion of his privacy. That was when Russell put in his two weeks notice. During this time, Russell also had a part time job at The Blandford Exxon, where he currently works at today.

The Second Time

In the words of Rusty Wallace, WHAT I WANT IS SOME RESPECT. They had hired 2 new managers, Ben & Pam, to the plaza. I was basically treated like crap from the moment they started. My new CD had come out, and Pam never had a nice thing to say about it. I was so sick of everybody's crap, and the sad thing is, the only reason I stayed as long as I did was because I knew a certain female employee, Ellen, would be working. What really pushed me over the edge was one week, I was only given 4 hours. The mentally handicapped employee got more hours than me, not to mention people that didn't want as many hours were getting more. I put in my notice because of that, and management failing to do their job one morning. It was time for lunch and none of the freezers were plugged in, and none of the work was done. I put in my notice. Immediately, Pam called me out to the dining room. I expected the usual talk over the problem, work it out, beg me to stay; not this time, she proved herself to be an amateur human being. The later that day, she hears me bad-mouthing McDonalds and tells me to go home. I said okay, gladly, but you may wanna find a new opener, cause I ain't coming back. And that was it. WHAT I WANT IS SOME RESPECT.

The Third Time

I had gotten a job at Lee West. The moment I applied, they found fault with the fact that I didn't call to make an appointment. When I started working there, there was immediately a problem with the hours, and the shirt I wore on the first day. I was never given a uniform till later. I wore one of my old school BlandEMcD shirts. To make a long story short, Sherry turned out to be another amateur human being, and I only lasted 3 months.

Why I'm Not There Now

I was willing to go back to BlandEMcD for the sake of the people. After quitting Lee West, I was promised I'd have a job at BlandEMcD by the time I got back. Pam wouldn't let Mark hire me back because I didn't honor my 2 weeks notice (huh, I wonder why). Then they were willing to hire me as a maintenence worker, but I'd have to go thru Ray. Also, the hours they were willing to give me were the nights when I worked at Exxon. I was not about to give up my Exxon days for McDonalds. I just felt bad that they didn't have coed maintenance people, and customers would always be complaining cuz the bathrooms weren't clean. It you don't have the help, you don't have the help, simple as that. I just felt bad for my former co-workers, or new employees having to put up with that.
